Blue October performed in front of a sold out show at Omaha’s Sokol Auditorium and The Pit Magazine was there to capture the night. I am a recent fan of the band, after watching their concert movie, “Things We Do at Night (Live from Texas.” However, there were some very devoted fans as I heard one person say that this was their 30th Blue October show.
Not being familiar with Blue October’s music gave me an opportunity to just listen and watch from my vantage point in the pit. The music had a really cool vibe to it and front man Justin Furstenfeld captivated his audience by engaging with them. As I was the only person in the photography pit, he engaged a number of times in the three songs that I had. One so close we could have shook hands.
The Blue October set list included “I Want It”, “Sway”, “Light it Up”, and “Ocean”. I stayed and listened to some more of the show after my time in the pit and I can see why there are so many dedicated fans.
